Life is about constantly trying to balance everything. So it's perfect and… balanced.

Today was my version of that.

For breakfast I had some very (very) sugary French toast and a cup of tea.

See sugar! Told you!

Little Mister chilling with a bikkie in the city

And for dinner a vegetable pasta.

With baby gnocchi

On the rampage

Add tomato and basil.

And you're in a state of such balance you feel like Pilates, yoga and cutting out refined sugar might be a good idea.

How was your Sunday?

Hi Readers! *waves*

I've been gone a while. Hibernating if you will.

After a second trip to the ER and my son and I both being sick unfortunately my blog didn't rate higher than sleep.

We're both on the mend and almostttttt better thankfully.

Today we went and had lunch at What The Pho, a Vietnamese restaurant in Northbridge, Perth. Here is
Urbanspoons Review

It was very welcoming, cheap, delicious food and it seems as though all the cool kids go there.

Here's the menu

I had #25 a pork and noodle salad

That's the dressing on the side

Close up.

It was delicious and fresh and I could taste it even through my sickness haze.

Jade had a seafood and noodle soup

Which she loved. She kept repeating chilli is so good for you, chilli is so good for you. Which translates to: "this is hella spicy"

Highly recommend it and will definitely go back!

Having a sick baby sucks. Going up to my local childrens hospital's ER with said sick baby, isn't what I want to be doing. I'd rather be in bed. Asleep. Sleeping. You hear me germs? Lay off my son or you'll have me to answer to!

*shakes fist*

That feels better.

Now that the first item of business can be checked off, we can see the fun part of the last 24 hours for me!

I like to pick a day and then on that day all I do is cook. And then jam food into the freezer.

Today was that day.

Some apples and (peeled) plums getting stewed. Not naming names, but *someone* doesn't like plum skin.

Sweet potato and pumpkin steaming, ready to be mashed.

Grated zucchini, chopped onion and garlic.

This is the start of the most popular recipe on Zucchini Slice My recipe is slightly different.

Add some grated carrot if you so wish. I did.

Add 5 eggs, 1 cup of SR flour, I added some milk and cheese.

Instead of making a big slab of zucchini slice I did minis. Let me get back to you on the practicality of the patty papers :/

Perfect for a slightly less sick babies dinner! The silicone muffin tin was a much better choice.

In my tiny freezer. Considering buying a deep freeze.

I also made a lasagne, but neglected to take photos of it. Oh well, maybe next time.

Do you bulk cook? Do you have and use a deep freeze?

Grocery Shopping

Today I went and did groceries at our local markets.
I think the world can divided into two different groups of people: Those who love all things supermarkets and those who think grocery shopping is hell on earth.
I just so happen to be a proud member of the former group. I love supermarkets and wandering up and down the aisles looking at and touching everything. As I glance over the zillion choices of tinned tuna you can get these days, I thoughtfully stroke my (imaginary) beard as I consider each option. Then wash, rinse and repeat for every other choice I need to make.
Thus turning a boring old trip to the supermarket into an EPIC adventure! Well, in my head anyway.

Naz obviously enjoys shopping for groceries as much as his mummy.

In the deli section of the market.
Pro Tip: don't make eye contact with anyone in this section to be safe. Head down and run.
You have to make this type of food to blog about anyway :-P

Cheese selection. Just wow.

Hands up who wants antipasto now? (both mine are up)

Ice ice baby
Also did some research for an upcoming post on a DIY washing liquid/powder recipe I've seen on Pinterest.

Are you a supermarket lover too? Or do you order online to save yourself from the drudgery that is aisle 3?

Today* I ate Lunch.

You heard lady (or gent) I ate lunch. More specifically I ate lunch out. It has been some time since I did this.

I dined with my sister Jade and my offspring Naz.

This is them enjoying each others company. Naz is super worried his aunty will steal HIS apple.

Jade had heard through the grapevine (not much longer would you be mine) that the The Overflow Cafe and Lounge was good. So we strolled down to check it out.

Well, what can I say? It was lovely! Cheap, relaxed, happy to accommodate a baby determined to put his mark on everything with food, excellent service and delicious food.

I had the bruschetta, toasted crusty bread with pesto. Topped with red onion, cherry tomatoes and melted bocconcini. It was perfect.

Where have you been for lunch lately?

*I always eat lunch, everyday. No need to send food. If you're that way inclined feel free to

Sunday Baking Sunday #5

It's Sunday Again?!?? It's April already?! The weeks are flying by, it's practically next year!
Sunday Baking Sunday

This week I made:

A Chocolate Brownie in a Mug
This one took some research to find a recipe that I liked the look of. Google once again saves the day! Here's the recipe I used Here.

Get all your equipment ready

Add four tablespoons of plain four to a mug. Anyone remember this mug?

4 tablespoons of sugar

1/8 teaspoon of baking soda. That's my 1/4 teaspoon, so I just winged it. Fingers are crossed it'll turn out don't you worry!

Two tablespoons of cocoa
Mix dry ingredients with a fork.

Three tablespoons of water

Three tablespoons of oil

Three tablespoons of milk. Milk and oil don't like each other much. Duly noted.

Mix again with your trusty fork. And that's it. Drink it! Yum!

Add some chocolate
Microwave for two minutes

Straight out of the (microwave)oven

I added Greek Yoghourt to cut the super sweetness and I bought 2kgs of yoghurt.

Then eat it.
Its delicious! Very hot, very rich but delicious.

I heart a good top ten list

This is a little add on to my previous unexpectedly heart filled baking wish list. I really love the novelty factor of heart shaped kitchen objects and the fact that they can make the mundane a little more fun.

Check out this beautiful heart shaped Le Creuset casserole pot. How gorgeous is it! It only comes in one colour, cherry red of course!

Heart shaped chopping board

What a joy to drink your morning tea or coffee from! Link

Maybe you could even pop one or two of these sugars in your mug too??!?

Not sure how practical this spatula is, but it's still super cute.

Heart shaped fried egg anyone?

A kitschy chocolate and cheese grater

On the flip side of your day how bout a glass of water tickles your fancy in one of these pretties?

A gorgeous wine carafe with a sweet little love heart. Everybody now, awwww.

And then to wash it all up once you're done a heart shaped scourer.
